We are looking for a talented Research Engineer to join our team in Lugano and contribute to cutting-edge research projects in the fields of reasoning systems, privacy-preserving AI, and advanced machine learning.
About the Role
As a Research Engineer, you will work closely with leading AI researchers and engineers on innovative research initiatives. You will contribute to the design, implementation, experimentation, and deployment of next-generation AI systems focused on reasoning capabilities, optimization, and privacy-preserving machine learning.
This role combines research excellence with strong engineering execution and offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects in collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
What You'll Do
- AI Systems & ML Pipelines: Design and develop AI systems and machine learning pipelines for reasoning and privacy-preserving AI applications.
- Algorithm Development: Implement and evaluate novel algorithms, optimization methods, and intelligent systems.
- Research Collaboration: Collaborate with researchers and engineers on experimental AI architectures and research prototypes.
- Software Engineering: Develop scalable software systems and data pipelines using Python and Java.
- Experimentation & Benchmarking: Contribute to scientific experimentation, benchmarking, and model evaluation.
- Applied Research: Participate in applied research projects involving machine learning, optimization, operations research, and probabilistic modeling.
- Engineering Standards: Maintain high software engineering standards, including testing, documentation, and reproducibility.
- Cross-Functional Work: Work with cross-functional teams to transform research concepts into production-ready solutions.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Master of Science (MSc) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Background: Strong educational background in software engineering and artificial intelligence.
- Programming: Excellent programming skills in Python and Java.
- ML Knowledge: Good knowledge of machine learning algorithms, AI systems, and data-driven modeling.
- Optimization: Familiarity with optimization techniques, operations research, and probabilistic modeling.
